#GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. PULSE will be participating and we are looking forward to your support! Throughout the days leading up to #GivingTuesdayNow, we’ll be sharing out about some of our fellows and Nonprofit Partners helping during this challenging time and how you can continue to support our mission. Learn more about PULSE Fellow Andrew Ferrante and the work he’s doing with Nonprofit Partner Allegheny Conference on Community Development during this challenging time.
PULSE: What role are you/your nonprofit playing in supporting community members during the pandemic?
Andrew: Since the start of the pandemic, the Allegheny Conference has been relaying new and useful information to community leaders throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. As a PULSE Fellow, I have been researching local government reactions and adding it to the twice-daily update on the Allegheny Conference COVID-19 Response webpage.
PULSE: How would you say you/your role is helping the organization respond to these pandemic challenges?
Andrew: I have been finding important resources for businesses and agencies and adding it to the Allegheny Conference COVID-19 Resources site as they are announced. Since the pandemic situation is constantly changing I have to continuously adapt to find resources that are most important at the time.
PULSE: What are you learning/have you learned in this role?
Andrew: Working with the Market Research & Strategy teams, I have learned so much about compiling data from various primary sources and using data to identify problems in the Southwestern Pennsylvania economy. I have also spent a lot of time with the Marketing and Communications team, and I have learned the best practices of sharing crucial information with agencies across the Pittsburgh region.
Help us continue to “cultivate a community of young servant leaders to transform Pittsburgh” by contributing to our Give Big Pittsburgh COVID-19 Response fundraiser! Every little bit helps us reach our $5,000 goal!
