Joel Olang traveled from Kisumu, Kenya to the United States to follow his passion for change. He is a tech enthusiast with interests in healthcare, the legal system, education, art, and biodiversity. As a human rights defender and advocate for vulnerable populations in East Africa and other areas, he has provided information, training, and strategic assistance to youth-serving organizations, policy makers, youth activists, and the media. Some of Joel’s hobbies are running marathons and working out, creating and collecting art, and enjoying the great outdoors. Joel is a member of our South Hilltop cohort and is serving at STEM Coding Lab as the Program Classroom Assistant.
