A native of Saxonburg, PA, Sam Gallagher graduated from Allegheny College with a degree in Biochemistry and a minor in Political Science. During her time in college, she served as president of Grounds for Change (GFC), a volunteer and student-run coffeehouse on the campus of Allegheny College. She also served as Sergeant at Arms for the Chi Sigma Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. Sam completed her undergraduate thesis on sexual dimorphism in glucocorticoid signaling in the eye. Sam is passionate about food food security, food literacy, community empowerment, and race and gender equity. In her free time, she enjoys barista-ing, walking, and reflecting. Sam was a member of our Northside cohort and served with Oakland Planning & Development Corporation as the Marketing and Community Programs Coordinator.
