Spencer Brown grew up in Williamsburg, Pennsylvania, and attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a degree in Chinese, with minors in Religious Studies and Economics, while also earning a certificate in East Asian Studies. At Pitt, he devoted much of his time to Cornerstone campus ministry, where he served as a co-leader of the Service Team. Spencer also received a U.S. State Department-sponsored Critical Language Scholarship to study Chinese abroad in Beijing for two months. What he is most looking forward to at PULSE is growing professionally and learning how to effectively serve and advocate for communities, both in geographical and identity terms, in a meaningful and lasting way. In his free time, Spencer enjoys reading across genres and languages, writing poetry, and singing. He served at Off the Floor Pittsburgh.
